New Enbridge Home Renovation Savings!

Writer: Lisa BelangerLisa Belanger

Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy, with support from the Ontario Government, have introduced the Home Renovation Savings™ program to help Ontarians enhance their home's energy efficiency and comfort. This initiative offers homeowners flexible options to undertake single or bundled upgrades, leading to significant savings.

Program Highlights:

  1. Bundled Upgrades with Energy Assessment:

    • Home Energy Assessment: Begin with an initial assessment conducted by a registered energy advisor to identify optimal energy-saving opportunities. A $600 rebate is available to offset the cost of the initial and follow-up assessments upon successful program completion.

    • Eligible Upgrades: After the assessment, complete at least two of the following upgrades to qualify for rebates:

      • Heat Pump Water Heaters: $500 rebate for replacing your current water heater with an ENERGY STAR® certified heat pump model.

      • Windows and Doors: $100 per rough opening for upgrading to ENERGY STAR® certified models.

      • Air Sealing: Up to $250 for achieving specified air sealing targets.

      • Insulation: Rebates up to $8,900 for improvements in attic, foundation, exposed floor, and exterior wall insulation.

  2. Single Upgrades without Energy Assessment:

    • Heat Pumps: Up to $12,000 for installing eligible heat pumps.

    • Solar Panels and Battery Storage: Up to $10,000 in rebates.

    • Smart Thermostats: $75 rebate for installing a qualifying smart thermostat.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Homeownership: Applicants must own their home.

  • Housing Types: Eligible properties include single detached or semi-detached homes, row/townhomes, and mobile homes on permanent foundations.

  • Heating Requirements: Participants should either:

    • Be Enbridge Gas customers with an active account, primarily heating their home with a natural gas furnace or boiler, or

    • Be connected to the Ontario electricity grid and heat their home electrically.

Steps to Participate:

  1. Schedule an Assessment: Before initiating any work, arrange an initial home energy assessment with a registered energy advisor from an approved service organization.

  2. Receive a Custom Report: Review the recommended upgrades tailored for your home and select at least two to implement.

  3. Complete the Upgrades: Engage your preferred contractor to carry out the selected improvements.

  4. Conduct a Follow-up Assessment: After the upgrades are installed, complete a final assessment with the same energy advisor.

  5. Obtain Your Rebates: Rebates will be issued after the energy advisor submits all necessary documentation.
